Squadron Commander's Goals for 2011
Goals for Charlie and Tango Flights / Cadet Programs Goal: Progress:
1. Achieve Milestones towards Quality Cadet Unit Award and Sq. of Distinction/Merit    
1a. Cadet Achievements 1/3 of first-year cadets earn Wright Brothers Award  
  Four cadets earn advanced awards (Mitchell, Earhart, Eaker, or Spaatz)  
1b. Orientation Flying 75% of cadets will receive at least one O-flight during 2011 year.  
  50% of cadets will receive at least one glider O-flight during 2011 year.  
1c. Encampment 40% of first and second year cadets have completed their first encampment.  
1d. Aerospace Education Earn Cadet AEX award (6 AEX activities + 2 hour aerospace event)  
1e. Membership, Growth, and Retention 30 cadets on 31 DEC 2011  
  Two new cadets by 31 DEC 2011 Complete
  Retain 60% of cadets who joined in 2010.  
1f. Adult Leadership At least one senior member completing 2011, or three in 2010 and 2011. Two members completed in 2010.
2. Tango Flight Cadet airmen will understand squadron operations and chain of command so that they are productive when graduating to Charlie Flight.  
3. Enhanced Cadet Involvement Cadets will assist senior members while serving in cadet special staff positions, especially Cadet Safety Officer.  
  Cadets will actively participate in squadron, group, and wing Cadet Activity Councils  
4. Cadet Officer Planning Cadet officers will drive cadet program and use advance planning and chain of command to communicate future events to cadet flights.  
5. 18 Year Old Cadets Will receive Cadet Protection Training within 30 days of 18th birthday.  
Goals for Sierra Flight Goal: Progress
1. Staff Duties Performed Regularly 100% compliance with suspense dates with minimul input from DCS or Sq/CC.  
2. Personnel Personnel officer will prepare all new member files, promotion and award paperwork with minimal guidance.  
  Personnel officer will obtain technician rating in 2011.  
3. Recruiting and Retention Work with DCS to identify likely venues for recruiting senior members and a strategy for "selling" CAP membership to those recruits.  
  Work with DCC to set up an "open house" in September, 2011 for new cadets.  
4. Finance Increase squadron funds by $500 to $1000.  
  Work with finance committee to plan a list of expenditures required by departments and how to obtain those items.  
5. Testing Control Officer Ensure testing logs meet current regulations.  
  Obtain most recent testing materials for all Learn to Lead curriculum and Aerospace 2nd edition.  
  Develop scorecard for drill testing and train at least two senior members to give the test.  
  Prevent cadet "test banking" by use of SIMS to log tests taken and scores.  
6. Safety Officer Train cadet safety officer.  
  Obtain technician rating in 2011.  
  Begin work on Mission Safety Officer training.  
  Assist Sq/CC in ensuring safety currency prior to any squadron activity.  
7. Administrative Officer Ensure prompt filing of squadron paperwork (within suspense date)  
  Assume duties of filing forms with higher commands.  
  Obtain technician rating in 2011  
  Update suspense dates in squadron filing cabinet and purge files by March. Complete!
8. Chaplain Continue providing character development using Flight Time for Life.  
  Provide counselling services to cadets and seniors as required.  
  Investigate requirements to be recertified as mission chaplain. Complete.
9. Public Affairs Re-establish squadron newsletter beginning in February, 2011.  
  Obtain press coverage of at least one squadron event in 2011.  
  Update squadron PA plan. Complete.
  Develop Crisis Plan  
10. Professional Development Find new PDO (not sq/CC).  
  Train new PDO to assist other members with PD.  
  Obtain technician rating in 2011.  
  Ensure all new members are trained to Level I within 30 days of joining.  
  Ensure all members receive required EO training in January, 2011. Complete.
  Assist all new members towards promotion to First Lieutenant.  
  Assist all new members in choosing a specialty track.  
11. IT / WSO Take over squadron website update duties from Sq/CC  
  Ensure meeting dates are updated. Complete.
  Use new media to inform cadets (Twitter, Facebook).  
  Manage use of squadron laptop.  
12. Logistics and Supply With assistance of finance committee, ensure squadron has adequate stock of cadet insignia and purchase required safety equipment (ANSI vests, First Aid kits).  
  Dispose of unnecessary equipment and ensure all new equipment is properly accounted for in ORMS.  
  100% eyes-on inspection in February.  
  Develop "new cadet kits".  
13. Aerospace Education Complete Cadet AEX program.  
  Assist DCC to ensure 50% of cadets have at least one glider flight in 2011.  
  Coordinate attendance at Space Symposium (April 2011).  
 

75% of squadron members completing Yeager Award.

 
  Trip to Peterson Air Museum, Wings Over the Rockies, or United Airlines training facility.  
14. Communications Teach at least one BCUT and one ICUT or ACUT for squadron members in 2011.  
  Develop practical training using ICOM radios for ES training night.  
15. Emergency Services Certify three active ground team leaders.  
  Qualify ten members at GTM-3 or higher.  
  Fully develop ES Alerting system for ground teams or air crew.  
  Qualify at least two scanner/observer teams.  
  Qualify squadron as CERT team.  
  Offer assistance for chemical preparedness training exercise.  
  Qualify one or more pilots as an O-flight pilot or transport pilot, begin training towards Mission Pilot.  
16. Transportation Officer Appoint LGT officer besides Sq/CC.  
  100% reporting of usage within suspense date.  
  Ensure maintenance at proper intervals.  
  Coordinate w/ COWG LGT to determine when van will be unavailable for squadron use (supporting other events).  
17. Miscellaneous Goals Senior members participate in Open Cockpit at least once per year.  
  Wreaths Across America participation:  
  Each member sells at least one wreath.  
  Ten cadets attend WAA ceremony.  
  Four senior members attend ceremony.  
  Member participation in Colorado State Fair:  
  All senior members participate at least two days.  
  All cadets participate at least two days.  
  Finalize building use agreement with PWAM  
  Resolve any SUI findings within 45 days.
