The Black Sheep Senior Squadron is committed to service in the areas of Emergency Services, Homeland Security, Counter-Drug and Mountain Search and Rescue. We are one of the largest senior squadrons in Colorado Wing and based out of Centennial Airport. We have diverse opportunities for pilots and non-pilots alike and are always looking for new members.  Please take a look around our site and join us at one of our squadron meetings!

New members are always welcome. We encourage adults who are interested in the Civil Air Patrol and Blacksheep Squadron to stop by one of our regular meetings to meet the members and get a briefing from our recruiter.
  
  
This is an Acrobat fillable form.  Our recruiter, 1st Lt. Ben Krieger, or the commander will give you a blank form and fingerprint card and answer any questions you may have. Once you have decided to join, you can fill out this form which will make it highly readable.

BSSS meeting recap 2-2-12

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Snowbound Black Sheep;
On Thursday Night 2-2-12 - 33 hardy members awaited the impending blizzard together at South Metro Fire and Rescue while attending our Bi-monthly and slightly abbreviated
Squadron meeting. Here's your recap:




1. Safety Briefing was a 20 minute FAASTeam DVD on fatigue. The Bottom Line Message - Get some SLEEP! Everybody needs 8 hours.
2. Capt. Mike Schulte briefed his Instrument Checkride.
3. Capt. Steve Steinberger briefed for the Aircraft Crew Chiefs.
4. Capt. Ed O'Brien briefed the GP 3 SAREX Feb 18-19 at Peterson.
5. Maj. Hank Eng briefed the new DBIDs procedures at Buckley. SEE INFORMATION BELOW.


Our next regular Squadron Staff Meeting is Monday 2-6-12 at the Squadron Office at Tac-Air. 1900hrs/7PM


Our next regular all Member Squadron Meeting is Thursday 2-16-12 at the South Metro Fire and Rescue location. 19:30hrs/7:30PM


It is suggested that if you have/need computer help on CAP websites - you bring your lap top computer to each meeting.
We will begin to have instructions at each meeting. It is best that you learn by doing. To do - you'll need to use a computer.
Hands on training - followed by hands-on doing - is the only way to learn these computer tasks.
Be safe. Train hard. Do your duty.

If you are interested in applying for a Buckley DBIDs pass see below. Fill out the application below. Scan it and send it to Mike McDonald at Buckley AFB. It is recommended that
you NOT call Mike directly as he is double busy processing these applications. If you do not have specific CAP business at Buckley it is recommended that you NOT apply.

Attached are new cadet and senior DBIDS applications for Buckley AFB. These are effective for all DBIDS applications submitted starting tomorrow February 2, 2012. The reason for the change is the addition of the Privacy Act Statement at the top of the form. Submittal procedures remain the same.

The new versions of the forms show "2 FEB 12, Previous editions obsolete" in the lower left corner and in the lower right corner the letter "a" is appended to 2013.

Black Sheep Meeting recap 1-19-12

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Black Sheep;
On Thursday January 19, 2012 - 38 members and guests gathered for our regularly scheduled squadron meeting. On this night we congratulated members Sid Altum for his service at the Gp 1 SAREX last March. Additionally, Assistant Aerospace Education Officer Blanche Cohen received her Yeager.

Ben Kreiger - project officer at the Altitude Chamber checkout at Peterson AFB last month
briefed Aerospace Physiology.

Steve Steinberger covered safety with an update of Centennial Airports new regulations, safety and security issues, noise abatement, snow removal, temporary runway closing, ramp and reporting procedures.

Ed O'Brien briefed Lessons Learned in the Airborne Photography Program over the past 6 months.

Comm officer Nate Duehr began the yearly "Eyes On" inspection. If you have CAP/Black Sheep gear, radios, vehicles, beacons, or anything else. We need it inspected by either Nate nate@natetech.com 303-325-5129/303-594-5444 or Logistics Officer Ben Kreiger
at benifer0607@hotmail.com 720-238-5726. Make a plan with either of these officers to bring in your CAP owned gear to have it inspected "EYES ON." This inspection must be completed by Feb. 1, 2012.

Sid Altum, Dale Short, and Chuck Sellers were happy faces, respected members, and good friends we don't get to see often enough. We thank them for attending Thursday Night.

Our next meeting is Thursday Feb 2nd at South Metro Fire and Rescue
Our next staff meeting is Monday Feb 6th at the Tac-Air Office Squadron Office.
Our next SAREX is GP 3 at Peterson AFB Feb. 18/19 - BSSS member David Hurtado is IC.
