Thank you for your interest in the Colorado Wing GSAR School.

If you have just begun training as a ground team member, or if you have extensive training, this weeklong school is ideal for improving your skills in Colorado's wilderness environment.

Out-of-state applicants will be assigned a Colorado squadron sponsor, so get your applications in early in order to allow sufficient time to establish contact.

Air Crew Survival Weekend will be conducted July 23 to July 25, 2010

Intensive backcountry SAR training in the beautiful mountains of Colorado, offered to CAP cadets and seniors
 
23 July to 31 July 2010
 
 
GSAR School fee:  $140.00, if registered by May 1st ($70 due with application, $70 due by June 26th) 
                         $160.00, if applying after May 1st - deadline June 26th
                                   payable to Colorado Wing CAP
 
Requirements
Cadets:           at least 14 years old
                        at least C/SrA
                        must pass Mitchell PFT
                        must have previous Encampment or GSAR School
 
Cadets
and Seniors:   101 card, CAPT 116, 117 pt 1, IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700
                        must be able to hike with 20-25lb pack
                        (You will be in the field every day - rain or shine)

Application:  Cadets use CAPF 31
                    Seniors use CAPF 17

This is open to any CAP member who would be in a plane as air crew and would like some survival training. If CAP air crew members would like the training to count toward Ground Team credentials, then the 101 card would be required. Other mission ratings are not required. If you are ever part of an air crew, you should be interested in survival training. Some skills taught over this weekend include shelter-building, fire-starting, signalling, map reading, as well as search techniques.
The $25 fee makes this one of the best bargains around.
