Buckley Access - Posted on Thursday, November 11, 2010Effective IMMEDIATELY (10 November 2010) - CAP ID cards, with or without picture, are no longer valid for access to Buckley AFB. Yes, this is sudden.
At this time the ONLY CAP access lists are for the Finance team that works on base and Mile-Hi Squadron. If you are not a member of either of these groups, do not try to access the base by telling the guards that your name is on a list. CAP personnel with DoD issued ID cards can use those to access the base. A current DBIDS card marked "Peterson AFB only" may or may not be accepted. We've been told those marked "Front Range" will.
Unfortunately, the base is not yet ready to issue DBIDS cards to CAP members. As a result, we have to create lists that the base security force will then computerize. They will not be using paper lists at the gates.
Here is the process:
a. Each unit will compile a list of members who require access to Buckley. The form that MUST be used can be found in the COWG Forms area of the website or by clicking here. Complete only the list of names per the instructions highlighted in yellow. Note that the form requires the names to be in alphabetical order, and contains private info, so simply circulating the form at a meeting won't work.
b. Email the completed form in original format (do not modify, convert to PDF or another version of Word) to Lt Col Mike McDonald. His email address can be found here.
c. Gerald Peaslee and Mike McDonald will verify the names are in the proper format, complete the form and submit it to the 460 SFS.
d. The 460 SFS states that it may take up to 72 hours before the names appear in the computerized access list.
Everyone's cooperation is appreciated to make this a smooth transition. read more ...

The Civil Air Patrol is a great way to serve America. Our three primary missions are Aerospace Education, Cadet Programs and Emergency Services. CAP is an all-volunteer organization, made up of everyday people with a wide variety of skills.
Federal, state and local authorities rely on the CAP's volunteer pilots and ground personnel to provide search and rescue assistance, disaster relief, homeland security, counter-drug operations support and cadet leadership training. The Colorado Wing of the CAP offers a wide variety of opportunities for citizens from all walks of life to serve Colorado, and America. With nearly 60,000 members nationwide, the CAP is one of the largest volunteer organizations in the country.
The Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary of the United States Air Force, performing "Missions For America". In Colorado, the CAP is headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. We operate 35 squadrons throughout the state.
| |
The COWG squadrons stand ready to
assist those in need. Missions range from search-and-rescue of lost hikers or hunters, location of downed aircraft and transport of emergency personnel or medical materials. When there is a disaster in a Colorado community, the State's CAP squadrons respond by transporting doctors, firefighters or emergency personnel to the areas in need.
| |
Volunteers also perform homeland security, disaster relief, reconnaissance and counter drug missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies.
| |
Our members take a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to the almost 25,000 young people currently participating in CAP cadet programs. CAP has been performing missions for America
for more than 60 years.
