HEADLINES:  6 November 2012

We have O-Flight money!  We will need to spread 200+ flights across 25 squadrons and we will atempt to follow the guidelines in COWG Policy 11-31 to equitably provide filghts.   However, gliders are subject to the weather and we only have 4 rated pilots and one is not available until June.  So for now through Sept our goal is to fly 50 sorties per month and a lot of hard work by our pilot staff.  We will also spend one weekend in Wyoming supporting our gliderless Region neighbor.   We are in the process of providing invitations and planning to fly (glide) out these training funds.

The COWG Glider Program is back in business.  The NEC (National Executive Council) has decided to end the one year trial of the Region Glider Center of Excellence (RMR GCOE) concept.  From our perspective at the ground level there are no operational changes for how we do business.  We report to and through the COWG CC to the Rocky Mountain Region CC who has overall management and funding responsibility.   COWG Glider Program will still support  providing O'Rides for the Wyoming Wing using their O'Ride designated training funds with Region approval.  Funding for the COWG Cadet Glider Orientation Ride Program is managed at the region level and provided to the Wing.

The Glider Program Manager is reviewing the past years of glider sorties as a determining factor in the distribution of flights throughout the Wing and also using the current O'Ride allocation process to provide a fair allocation of support for the 25 Cadet Squadrons.  Plans are in progress for road trips throughout the state.

We are still available for flight training for both Seniors and Cadets who want to personally pay for their own tows.  Please contact Major Keil or any of the CFIG's below for flight training.  Our current home port is at Boulder Airport, one of two non-paved runway, approved airports for glider operations.  The other is Meadow Lake Airport near Colorado Springs.   In the meanwhile,  we will be making squadron visits on request to brief the Glider Program and to excite interest.

Some links below require an eServices login which after logging in will leave you stranded.  Just login and come  back to this page and try again.

OUR CALENDAR IS NOW A SEPARATE WEB PAGE ON THE LEFT IF YOU ARE LOGGED IN OR CHOOSE THE "ZERO" DOCUMENT LINK BELOW.
